Today, a significant event unfolded as Republican State Representative Josiah Magnuson single-handedly thwarted the South Carolina Medical Consolidation Bill. If passed, this bill would have granted unprecedented powers to a healthcare czar in times of emergency, effectively curtailing democratic processes.

At a crucial moment when unanimous support was needed to take up the bill in the final minutes of this year’s session, Freedom Caucus member Magnuson stood firm.
