Today, I lost a good friend of mine, but the loss is even more devastating. Chesterfield County, South Carolina, and America lost a patriot. John C. Parker, better known to all as Jack, passed away after a courageous fight against cancer.
I first met Jack after he had conducted an extensive background check on my political leanings. At that time, he was involved in cleaning up the dirty politics that had infected Chesterfield County, forcing him to look over his shoulder to see who might be following him.
Jack was the driving force behind replacing the corrupt Election Commission in Chesterfield County at that time. He was also a major contributor to the election of the first Republican House Representative, Richie Yow, to represent our county.
Even though, during my term as Chairman of the Chesterfield County Republican Party, we elected the first Republican council member and countywide officeholder, it was Jack who made that possible by establishing the fair and level playing field we needed to make it happen.
Today, I am very sorry about the loss of Jack and wish his family the strength to know that he is now at peace with his maker. I am also thankful, thankful that at a time our county, our state, and our nation needed a true patriot, one who lived the ideals that our Founding Fathers believed in, the Lord sent us Jack Parker. Jack, rest in peace, your work is done, and your vision has been passed on to others. God Bless you, your family and America.
