The Foul Side of Politics

The two Republicans running for the position of Fourth Circuit Solicitor are Shipp Daniel and Michael Burch. Until a week ago, the contest was one of the better contests I have seen. Both were running on their outstanding records and appealing to the voters intelligently. Now, one has stooped to telling outright lies about the other.

This misleading ad, which attempts to shift the blame for the rise in crime in Dillon County onto Shipp Daniel, is a blatant attempt to manipulate the voters’ perception. It’s important to note that this couldn’t be further from the truth, and it’s crucial that you, as informed voters, are aware of this.

A Circuit Solicitor is a prosecutor, nothing more, nothing less.  They have nothing to do with stopping crime, like a sheriff or police officer would do.  They enter the criminal justice system as the person who will prosecute and put away those who commit the crime.  Shipp Daniel is outstanding in doing this job!  If you are a criminal arrested in Dillon County, if Shipp prosecutes you, there is a 98% probability you will go to jail or prison.  And to further make your life a living hell, if you decide to take your case to court, Shipp has a 100% conviction rate.  With stats like those, he is an all-star prosecutor in Dillon County.

Consider this: if Shipp Daniel can achieve such remarkable results in Dillon County, imagine the positive impact he could have as Fourth Circuit Solicitor.  Shipp’s record, which speaks volumes about his capabilities, should instill confidence in his potential to serve our community.
